OVER-THE-COUNTER PRODUCTS
There are some over-the-counter products and self-care measures you can try to control the symptoms of motion sickness and make traveling on a moving vehicle more enjoyable. The following are some of the over-the-counter products that can be taken to control the symptoms of motion sickness. They normally have to be taken at least 30 minutes to 60 minutes before traveling in a moving vehicle for best results. Please note that these products may also cause drowsiness.
- Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
- Meclizine (Bonine)
- Dimenhydrainate (Dramine)
- Cyclizine (Marezine)
SELF CARE MEASURES
- Ride in the front of a car
- Sit in a spot where you can look out the window
- Sit in seat that faces forward
- Keep your head still by resting it against the head rest
- Do not read while sitting in a moving vehicle
- Eat a light meal before riding a moving vehicle
- Keep the moving vehicle well ventilated
