Acne, also known as Acnes Vulgaris, is a skin condition that commonly affects teenagers and young adults. It occurs when the skin pores get clogged up, resulting in raised bumps in the skin. Acne can grow on areas such as the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. Though acne is not a serious medical problem, it may cause permanent scars. There are several over-the-counter products in the form of creams and ointments that are tailored for treatment of acne.
