Symptoms of sunburn usually begin a few hours after you have been exposed to the sun and may worsen over the next 24 hours. However, sunburns will usually heal on its own within 3 to 6 days (depending on the severity of the sunburn) as the top layer of the damaged skin starts to peel off and is replaced with a new layer of skin.
Examples of common symptoms associated with sunburns include:
- Redness
- Feeling of warmness/tightness
- Swelling
- Peeling
- Pain
- Itchiness
- Blisters (for more severe sunburns)
- Fever (possible for more severe sunburns)
