OVER THE COUNTER PRODUCTS
- Over-the-counter products for dry eyes either work by adding tears, conserving tears, or increasing the amount of tears made in the eye.
Artificial Tear Drops
- Artificial tear drops are usually the first line of treatment for dry eyes. They work by adding tears into your eyes. Tear drops that do not have preservatives are less likely to irritate the eyes. If one product fails, try another with different ingredients. Some of the brands commonly used include: Thera Tears, Systane, Soothe, and Blink Tears.
Eye Ointments
- Eye ointments are thicker in consistency than artificial tear drops so it does a better job of keeping your eyes lubricated for a longer period of time. However, they may also cause blurry vision. So, most people prefer to apply them before bedtime.
AT HOME REMEDIES

- Take “eye breaks” while working on the computer.
