For those with allergies, springtime doesn't have to be sneezing season. Many types of medications are available to help reduce allergy symptoms. Ask the Pharmacist at your local Good Neighbor Pharmacy for help finding the medications that are right for you.
You can also take these steps to reduce your pollen exposure:
• Keep pollen outside. Close windows in your home and car. Use an air conditioner set on recirculate, which not only cools you off but also reduces how much pollen gets inside. Avoid using window and attic fans, which blow pollen into the house.
• Limit outdoor activity. Schedule outside activities for late afternoon, when pollen levels tend to be lower. Watch the pollen count by visiting the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology at www.aaaai.org/nab and stay inside as much as you can when the count is at higher levels.
• Don't stir up trouble. Avoid mowing the grass or raking leaves, which can release allergy-causing pollen and molds.
