When you ask a friend for advice, you share details of the situation so she can help you make the right decision. Think of your pharmacist as a friend.
The pharmacist at your local Good Neighbor Pharmacy wants to help you take your medications safely, but it’s a team effort. When speaking with your pharmacist, keep these tips in mind:
• Mention all medicines you take, including herbs, vitamins, and supplements
• Discuss allergies or issues that could interfere with medication use, such as trouble remembering when to take the medicine or difficulty reading labels
• Share the news if you’re pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
• Alert your pharmacist before beginning a new diet or supplement
And if you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Common questions include:
• What’s this medication for, and how will it help?
• Can I use a generic alternative?
• What should I do if I miss a dose or take too much?
• How should I store it?
