When it comes to the items in your medicine cabinet, you may be accidentally double-dipping. In other words, you could be taking more of a medication that you think.
Fortunately, there's plenty you can do to avoid an unintentional overdose. Keep these tips in mind when taking medication:
1. Read the label of your medicine every time before you take it to make sure you follow the instructions properly.
2. Know the active ingredient. This is always listed at the top of the Drug Facts label. Do not take more than one medication containing the same active ingredient.
3. Check with a health professional. If you're confused or have any questions, always consult with a doctor or the pharmacist at your local Good Neighbor Pharmacy.
4. Use the dosage delivery device that comes with the medicine. Using a kitchen spoon instead of a dosing cup could cause you to take the wrong amount.
