You go to the gym to stay healthy and fit. So the last thing you want is to get sick when you're there. The typical gym is loaded with germs that can cause all kinds of illness, from cold and flu to skin infections.
One reason germs spread so quickly at the gym is because so many people are sharing equipment, mats, water coolers and locker rooms. Limit your exposure to germs by taking these steps:
-When using shared gym equipment or mats, wipe it down thoroughly with disinfectant before and after use.
-Don't share any personal items, such as towels, razors, soap or water bottles.
-Wear flip flops or other footwear in the pool area and showers.
-Always wash your hands before and after a workout, using soap and warm water or hand sanitizer. Your local Good Neighbor Pharmacy can help you choose a hand sanitizer.
