Tip 1: Early to bed and early to rise may keep your weight from reaching new highs. If you don't feel tired until late, make some changes in your routine. Relax before bed with a hot bath, a good book or soothing music.
Tip 2: Opt for low-fat cooking methods like baking, roasting, stir-frying and steaming. Frying adds extra fat to foods.
Tip 3: When changing bad habits, tackle more than one at a time. Research shows that people who work on several unhealthy behaviors simultaneously may be more successful.
Tip 4: To help keep food safe for eating, keep your refrigerator set at 40 degrees or below. Be careful not to pack it too full, either. Cool air needs to circulate to keep food safe.
Tip 5: Keep exercising once you reach your ideal weight. If you don't add exercise to your weight-loss plan, your body's metabolic rate -- the rate at which it burns calories -- can slow down.
