You're Never Too Young to Help!

Image

You might think that only adults can volunteer.

But, kids your age can help with the fight against diabetes!

"The Talk"

First, talk with your parents about what it means and why you want to be a volunteer. What do you think you would like to do? Do you have the time to volunteer? If you are serious about volunteering, ask your family for help to learn more about how you can volunteer.

Places To Look

Some places that might need your help:

- Your local chapters of the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Start your search by visiting them at www.diabetes.org or www.jdrf.org.

- A local hospital.

- A local diabetes camp.

Other Things to Try

Still can't find a place to volunteer? Think again! What about:

- Setting up a pen pal program with kids in the hospital.

- Having a yard sale to raise money for diabetes research.

- Writing a politician about diabetes and the importance of finding a cure.

Whatever you decide to do, you can make a difference...AT ANY AGE!
